Things people don't expect about moving to Panama
Confusing "titled" property with "rights of possession" (ROP) land
Titled property is recorded in the Public Registry with a clear chain of ownership. ROP land, common in less-developed and rural/coastal areas, is only an occupancy claim and carries real title risk. Many cheap beachfront or mountain-town listings are ROP, not titled.
Mixing up the Pensionado visa and the Remote Worker visa
Pensionado requires a guaranteed LIFETIME pension and leads to permanent-track residency. The Remote Worker visa requires ongoing foreign salary/contract income, is a short-stay visa capped at 18 months total, and does NOT lead to residency.
Assuming the application is filed from abroad, consulate-style
Most Panamanian residency categories (Friendly Nations, Pensionado) are filed INSIDE Panama, after entering on tourist status, through a Panamanian immigration lawyer - not at a consulate before travel.
